Supervision for Clinical Effectiveness

$74

Current research tells us two important things about supervision: 1, Supervision can improve clinical outcomes. But 2, it usually doesn't. In this advanced supervision course, learn an assortment of specific clinical supervision activities designed to help therapists improve their outcomes with clients.

6 hours CE - Meets BBS renewal requirement for supervisors

Supervisors of California BBS Associates (and MFT trainees) must complete 15 hours of initial training in supervision, and 6 hours of additional training in each license renewal period. This course is designed to meet the renewal requirement.

Course Description

Despite its key role in the development of new mental health professionals, clinical supervision has not traditionally been based in science. It has shown little impact on therapeutic outcomes with clients. However, newer research offers supervisors useful and specific ways to work with supervisees to produce improved client outcomes. This course summarizes that research and teaches specific supervision activities that can improve supervisees’ outcomes with clients. Supervisors will learn about deliberate practice and routine outcome monitoring, and view demonstrations of specific supervision activities. Additional topics include the “impact chain” of supervision (that is, all of the steps needed for supervision to impact client outcomes), and legal and ethical considerations.

On-demand video format. Total running time 6 hours, 7 minutes.
